“Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow.”
-- Mary Anne Radmacher

Reaching out is the 1st step toward feeling relief and achieving personal, family or professional goals. Therapy offers private time with support to take a fresh look at your situation and evaluate options. My expertise is in supporting recovery after stressful or traumatic events. Both recent exposure and old wounds can be healed.

My approach to therapy is compassionate, flexible and creative in technique and style. I look for my patients to experience therapy as an exciting, engaging and thought-provoking process of self-discovery and personal growth. I strive to work collaboratively with my patients to help them move toward a deeper understanding of the self, leading to lasting emotional and behavioral change. I use a range of research-based cognitive, behavioral and family therapy approaches including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Together, we break down challenges, understand their sources, clarify & prioritize steps, practice skills, and develop a plan for follow-through. Employing a holistic approach, we'll take into account relationships and physical, financial, emotional and spiritual health.

Malarky is about relieving emotional distress, improving relationships, and taking back our lives. However, because no two people are alike, the counseling you receive should be tailored to fit who you are and what you struggle with -- there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

I draw on a number of approaches to help with emotional healing, including Cogntive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma work, mindfulness and relaxation approaches, Relational-Behavioral Therapy (primarily for adolescents), Gottman-informed counseling (primarily for couples), and problem-solving around real-world issues.
